YieldDocket

What a stock screener does, in plain terms

A stock screener filters thousands of stocks or funds down to a short list that matches rules you set, such as dividend yield, payout ratio or market value.

This guide explains how screening works in plain terms and where Stock Rover's prebuilt screens are.

How a screen works

  1. Pick a universe. For example, U.S. stocks, or only ETFs.
  2. Add filters. Each filter is a rule on one number, such as dividend yield above 3% or 5 or more years of dividend growth.
  3. Read the list. The screen returns every match; sort by any column.
  4. Research each result. A screen narrows a list. It does not judge a company.

Starting from YieldDocket data

The dividend changes page lists increases and cuts from SEC filings. A company from that list can be looked up in a screener to see its payout history and ratios.
